Plan the content clearly
Good BSL video production starts with a clear source script, audience and purpose. Tell us where the video will be used, its expected length, whether subtitles or branding are required and any preferences for on-camera presentation.
Accessible communication, not just translation
The goal is to make information clear and useful for Deaf BSL users. We can discuss the format, delivery style and practical production needs before work begins.
From source text to signed information
Start with the final text you want to communicate and identify the intended audience. BSL has its own grammar and structure, so a useful signed video requires consideration of meaning and context, rather than a word-for-word presentation of written English. Explain unfamiliar names, acronyms and specialist terms in the brief.
Agree the deliverables before production
Tell us the deadline, where the video will appear and whether you need subtitles, graphics, branding or separate versions. Discuss the review process and any revisions as part of the quote. Changes to an approved source script can affect the production schedule and cost.
Publishing an accessible video
Keep the signer large enough to see clearly on mobile screens and avoid placing captions or graphics over their hands or face. Provide a descriptive video title and accessible player controls. If your information changes, review the signed version as well as the written page so they remain consistent.
