At cSeeker, there are few things we enjoy more than being out and about and meeting new people.
One great chance to do that recently was at the UK Council on Deafness annual conference, held at the BT Centre, St Paul’s, London in early November.
Under the theme ‘Common Purpose’, the organisation’s 2016 event was aimed at being a celebration of what the community can achieve when we work together.
Sessions included a speech from Labour Poplar and Limehouse MP Jim Fitzpatrick and there was plenty of time for discussion and for chatting during the breaks and at lunchtime.
There was also an exhibition, and the UK Council on Deafness held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the same event.
Our Co-founder Alex Orlov said: “It was a particularly useful event for cSeeker to attend and we will definitely be there next year.
“It was a great chance to meet many people in one place, and to chat about cSeeker’s services. We heard a lot about the quality of communication support, which we do whenever we are at events like this.
“It’s clear not everyone has the quality of support they need and deserve. That’s why it’s important we attend events like this to discuss how we can help.
“I was pleased, during the event, to have the chance to take part in the discussion, and argue on stage for quality support, and stress that Deaf people shouldn’t settle for inferior communication, but keep pressing for the best available support.”
