It’s that time of year again! We want to thank everyone we’ve dealt with in 2016, from interpreters to clients and Deaf students and others, and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for a happy and successful 2017.
It’s also a good time to look back and reflect as the year comes to an end. For us, 2016 has been a very busy and successful year. Our client base of local councils, colleges and others continues to grow, meaning we have been able to help more Deaf people than ever.
Highlights of our year have included attending numerous events across the UK involving the Deaf community, from leading arts festival for our community, Deaffest, held in Wolverhampton, to Deafab!, which took place this year in Manchester and celebrated the LGBT contribution to Deaf life.
Another great moment from 2016 was when we were shortlisted for a Deaf Business Award by the Deaf Business Academy in the Outstanding Development category – it was a real honour to be nominated.
We’re really looking forward to 2017, and already have some exciting plans in place. For example, we are working with Birmingham City Council on a jobs fair, which we will be telling you all about in due course.
Whenever we’ve been out and about chatting to the Deaf community, we’ve loved having the chance to discuss people’s concerns. It seems that, wherever we go, we hear the same thing – what really matters to people is the quality of the communication support they receive.
In too many cases, corners have been cut by reductions in government funding.
Many Deaf service users do not always get the quality they deserve. Knowing this makes us even more determined to give our clients the best possible service.
We pledge to continue this commitment in 2017, and look forward to working with you in the New Year, which we hope will be a happy and prosperous one for all of us.
Meanwhile, have a relaxing break and return in January feeling refreshed.
