We’re delighted to announce that Birmingham-based Olivier Jamin has joined the team as our new Operations Coordinator.
Working part-time three days each week, Olivier will support our organisation across a range of activities, including Finance, admin tasks, BSL videos and Deaf Awareness. He started with us in early May.
Deaf since birth, Olivier communicates using BSL, as well as lip-reading for one-to-one conversations.
He says: “Previously, I was working in a community development and well-being role for seven years. I supported Deaf and hard of hearing people living in Birmingham to access health-related information and workshops. I also used to set up social events for clients, and delivered some Deaf Awareness training too.”
Over the years, Olivier’s education at college, university and through adult education has encompassed arts and design, jewellery, tableware, community development and the European Computer Driving Licence (EDCL).
Olivier is also a trained artist, and creates mixed media using stencil graffiti, photography, digital arts and pen drawings. He shows and sells his work online and also has stalls at events, and exhibitions. He also runs art workshops, and BSL tours at galleries for mainstream communities including Deaf, hard of hearing and disabled people.
He adds: “In my spare time, I love to travel to see different places and try out new foods. Also when I find time during my breaks, I try visit galleries and museums. My recent trips to Malta and India were great! I would return again and explore different places.
“I’m delighted to be part of the excellent team here at cSeeker.”
