At the end of next month, Deaf Business Academy is making its mark on Liverpool’s International Festival of Business in the city’s Exhibition Centre with the UK’s second Deaf Business Awards, and we can’t wait to be a part of it.
We’re also thrilled to have been nominated ourselves in the Outstanding Developmment category of this awards scheme, and a link is coming soon so you can vote for us! Voting will take place from June 1, when you will be able to make your nomination: here.
We’re pleased that both of us who run cSeeker, Guy and Alex Orlov, are speaking at this event, while Guy is also hosting the awards ceremony itself. He will be talking about the Birmingham Deaf Professionals Network Facebook group, in which he is actively involved, and Alex will be discussing the Entrepreneurial Spark Programme which has done so much for us here at cSeeker.
The awards ceremony, on June 30, follows a daytime celebration of Deaf entrepreneurship including fully accessible and interpreted sessions, organised by the Deaf Business Academy. Speakers are to include Google UK sales boss Iain McDougal and Sarah Wood, co-founder of Unruly.
The awards are the UK’s only national scheme of its kind acknowledging the contribution of Deaf businesses and entrepreneurs. Winners will be chosen by members of the public.
Nominations can be made via the website here. They must be in by May 30, with categories including:
· Outstanding contribution
· Best UK Deaf business
· Outstanding development
We’re really looking forward to being a part of the daytime and evening events on June 30. We hope to see you there, or, if you can’t make it, why not nominate a Deaf business you know for an award?
