Hello and welcome to cSeeker’s brand new website! Come on in, and we hope you like the way it looks, and can navigate your way around it easily and find all the information you need.
This month, it’s the UK’s national Deaf Awareness Week from May 2-8, and at cSeeker we’re delighted to be supporting this initiative. In a nutshell, it’s a time for everyone in the Deaf world to make others understand the world they live in.
It’s a great chance to try and get hearing friends to understand what it means to be Deaf, for example, perhaps by teaching them a few words of sign language. More
Entrepreneurial Spark is the world’s biggest free business accelerator for early stage and growing enterprises. It aims to develop entrepreneurs with a ‘Go Do’ attitude and the qualities to make them an exciting and realistic investment prospect.
In 2015, the national Entrepreneurial Spark scheme was launched in Birmingham, giving dozens of new entrepreneurs a host of benefits from free office space to regular mentoring. More
Deaffest is Britain’s Deaf film and TV festival, launched by Wolverhampton University, Zebra Uno and Light House a decade ago. It aims to give Deaf filmmakers the chance to showcase and be recognised for their skills, and to offer them support.
Over the years, the programme has been extended to include a Young Deaffest competition, the biennial Film Gala awards and the Ben Steiner Bursary.
The fair running alongside all the events is a growing attraction, with stalls from a number of Deaf-related organisations – and including entertainment from Deaf artists and performers. More
At the end of next month, Deaf Business Academy is making its mark on Liverpool’s International Festival of Business in the city’s Exhibition Centre with the UK’s second Deaf Business Awards, and we can’t wait to be a part of it.
We’re also thrilled to have been nominated ourselves in the Outstanding Developmment category of this awards scheme, and a link is coming soon so you can vote for us! Voting will take place from June 1, when you will be able to make your nomination: here.
We’re pleased that both of us who run cSeeker, Guy and Alex Orlov, are speaking at this event, while Guy is also hosting the awards ceremony itself. He will be talking about the Birmingham Deaf Professionals Network Facebook group, in which he is actively involved, and Alex will be discussing the Entrepreneurial Spark Programme which has done so much for us here at cSeeker.
At cSeeker, we love getting out and about and meeting deaf people as much as possible.
So we were particularly pleased to make our debut appearance last weekend at the eighth Deafab celebration, held this year in Manchester for the first time following on from previous successful events in Birmingham, Cardiff and Ireland.
Organised by volunteers and held in a different city every year, Deafab celebrates Deaf members of the LGBT community across the UK and Ireland. More
We love the work of adept, the trading name of the National Association for Tertiary Education for Deaf People (NATED), in improving services in educational settings for deaf people of all ages.
So when we had the opportunity to support them at their AGM and annual conference recently, we jumped at the chance. More
The contribution Deaf business makes to the UK and its wider economy isn’t always acknowledged or celebrated enough, we think. So we were delighted to be invited to be involved recently in the recent Deaf Business Awards, organised by the Deaf Business Academy and held at the elegant Circo venue on Liverpool’s Albert Dock.
We’re giving Deaf student Daniel Powell a chance to be a bright spark with a bursary covering half his tuition fees as the trainee electrician goes into his second year at South Staffordshire College.
